ARCHIDONA VIADUCT
Last week the High Speed Railway Line between Madrid and Granada was inaugurated by ADIF, reaching another milestone for the modern Spanish civil engineering infrastructures.
Among the multiple structures comprised in this line, the Archidona Viaduct, designed by IDEAM, deserves a mention of honor, for being by the time of construction the largest composite structure without deck or rail expansion joints, with and overall length of 3.150 m long and just one fixed central support.
The 10.000 tons of S355J2W weathering steel of this impressive viaduct were fabricated and erected by HORTA COSLADA at an average pace of 100 ml and 400 tons per week. The typical segment has 6,60 m width and 50 m long, weights 200 tons and was delivered fully finished from our workshops of Soria to the job site in Malaga, by means of special convoys.
